During the Cretaceous, the continents are deployed. The broad masses have continued to be divided under the effects of movements of the earth's mantle, weakening the crust and creating a ridge of volcanic between Europe and North America, Africa and South America and around the tip of southern Africa. Over millions of years, this movement opened the Atlantic Ocean, the Antarctic island and brought northern India with Asia.
Ocean levels rose and shared America in two (Thetys separate from the North and South). 
With this division that fauna and flora of the two hemispheres are slightly different.
